Post from WA State Representative David Taylor at CHUM.LY

Excerpt from the Anti-Federalist Papers – Col. Mason, Virginia Delegate

“Under their own construction of the general clause, at the end of the enumerated powers, the Congress may grant monopolies in trade and commerce, constitute new crimes, inflict unusual and severe punishments, and extend their powers as far as they shall think proper, so that the State legislatures have no security for the powers now presumed to remain to them, or the people for their rights.”

So often today, those individuals who are fighting to preserve State’s Rights are laughed upon by the progressive movement. Interestingly, over 200 years ago our Founding Fathers also expressed concern over preserving State’s Rights, which led to the 10th Amendment specifically preserving those powers, not otherwise granted to the Federal Government, with the people first and then to the States.

The time has come to remind all of our elected leaders the Constitution matters and we expect them to follow it.
