Ok folks, someone please send me the results from the GOP Caucus’s back in the Yakima area, please. We’re back on the House Floor this afternoon to run 5 bills on the"Green Sheet” and a whole bunch of bills on the"Concurrence/Dispute” Calendar.
If you haven’t already heard, the Senate Republicans took over the Senate last night and kicked some serious butt. The passed out a true bi-partisan budget that did not cut Levy Equalization, did not rely on the 25th Month payments and did not include tax increases. If you have a Republican Senator or if your Senator is Senator Tom, Kastama or Sheldon, please contact them and thank them for doing what’s right for Washington State.
It’s going to me a long day with a lot of sitting around waiting for the Democrat Majority to decide what they want to do. They’re a little edgy after the meltdown in the Senate last night. Hehehe ... I love it.
One last thought, I met a truly great man yesterday ... Thank you Pastor Scott for your words of encouragement.

Washington State is at a cross-roads and it is this election that will define our future. For the last six years, the State General Fund Budget has grown by over 26% even through the hard economic times we’re facing. It’s time we send a message to Olympia; the era of big government is over. It’s time that a new transparent and accountable government lead Washington State out of this recession.
Folks, Washington State simply cannot tax, spend or borrow its way out of a $5.0 billion deficit. We need to fundamentally change the way government operates, increase local control over decisions that lead to economic gain, remove the bureaucratic roadblocks State government consistency places in front of its citizens, and return to the “Priorities of Government”.
The Washington State Constitution is very explicit in declaring what government is mandated to do. Protect public health and safety (including the most vulnerable in our society), provide for the education of all children and provide infrastructure. These should be the “Priorities of Government” and these are the areas in which the Legislature must focus its attention.
Next, we must pass sound economic policies which promote free enterprise, privatization of government programs where feasible, reform the onerous regulation on our businesses, and provide the tax incentives necessary to promote expansion of existing businesses.
Finally, we must expand local control to provide local governments with the tools they need to recruit new businesses to Washington State. To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, “the government closest to the people, governs best.” We must allow our locally elected officials (City Councils and County Commissioners) the power to meet the needs of the people they serve. We must remove bureaucratic oversight from their decisions and, in doing so, return the power to the electorate.
This election will define our future and I ask for your support this November.

We are having some weird, crazy weather. Things are not looking good for the last cutting of hay, which could cause prices to jump significantly. We had a great evening at the Yakima County Medical Society forum last night and look forward to working with the group in the future.

Finally a little quiet time. We had a very busy weekend filled with a whole lot of friends and family in and out of the house all weekend. Our good friend Tim Kunka, came over Friday night after interviewing for a Range Management job in Ellensburg. My mother in law also came in from southeastern Oregon Friday night for the weekend.
Brock and I went down to the Grand Ol Picnic in Underwood yesterday ... it was great. We got to see a lot of wonderful people and I gave an old fashion stump speech (actually standing on a tree stump). It was a lot of fun.

This bond issue asks the voters to approve general obligation bonds $505 million OUTSIDE the state debt limit, it will make the bottle water tax permanent to pay for the debt service, the debt service is estimated to be $72 million per year or $1.0 billion over twenty-five years, and will ultimately cause the state's bond rating to be downgraded costing the taxpayers an additional $3.5 to $7.0 million per $1 billion in financing costs.

We had a busy weekend down in Klickitat County. Saturday we attended the Huckleberry Festival in Bingen and I spent 30 minutes in the dunk tank to help raise money for the Sheriff's Toys for Tots program. On Sunday we attended the TEA Party in Dallesport ... what a great turnout. They estimated the crowd to be over 1,700 people from all over the Gorge. Molly and I got to meet Lars Larson, who shares many of my concerns with Wolf Management. It sounds like I may be on his radio show to discuss it ... holy cow! It's going to be a busy week, but I'm looking forward to the challenges and opportunities it will surely bring.

It's another busy day here in the Moxee Valley. Our first load of calves are headed to the sale this morning ... let's hope the price stays good. I'm playing in the Yakima Association of Realtors golf tournament today, which is always a great time. We might go up to Ellensburg tomorrow night for the high school football game against East Valley, but still haven't decided for certain. The Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer and is always filled with much to do. We sent a load of cattle to a rodeo yesterday and Molly went to Ellensburg to watch the rodeo. Today looks to be slow day for us, but we'll be at the Wapato Harvest Festival tomorrow for the parade.
I just got word from a friend who's having their Annual Horse Sale on September 18th. If anyone is looking for a young horse with great breeding, you should check this sale out. www.promised-land-ranch.com.

Wow, what a weekend! Molly and I had the pleasure of attending the Washington State Trappers Association annual meeting on Saturday. We had a wonderful time, learned a lot about trapping issues, learned even more about trapping equipment, and met a lot of really great people. We want to thank the WSTA for a wonderful experience.

I spent yesterday (Wednesday) listening to the WA Department of Fish and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Services explain why they need to continue to purchase land throughout Washington. I'm still trying to piece it all together, but the agencies responses included things like "internationally significant species", "internationally significant habitat" and "corridors important for habitat linkage".
