Good morning friends. Another beautiful, albeit cloudy, day in the Moxee Valley. The home improvement projects are progressing nicely, with only a few minor bumps along the way. A special thanks to Eric Torres for his advice on fixing some of those"special little gifts” left by the previous owner of our house. I’ve come to realize why they wallpapered an entire wall in the kitchen and living room.
I do need to issue a dire warning for everyone in East Valley ... Tiffany passed her driving test yesterday and will have her drivers license in six days. All kidding aside, I’m so proud of her for really paying attention to our driving lessons and passing her test. Now the real worry of a parent.
Matt Shea, Jason Overstreet and I are looking for a few days to get away in the near future. We’re talking about a fishing trip, but have not decided where to go yet. Joel Kretz is having problems with cougars again, so we might go up and give him a hand dealing with his"problem”. Regardless, a few days with my fellow patriots would do me good.
It’s time to get back to work measuring walls, scraping wallpaper and tearing out flooring. I hope everyone has a great day. God bless.

What a weekend! Molly and I had the opportunity to participate in the Love and Respect Conference in Richland over the weekend. It was a fantastic program and I would recommend it to anyone. Dr. Eggerich is a great presenter and the material is incredibly useful. We drove up to Spokane Saturday afternoon for Tiffany’s last volleyball tournament of 2012 club ball. While the tournament itself wasn’t all that great (the girls didn’t play that well) the trip itself was good. It was really nice just getting away for a couple of days with Molly.
I saw an article last week about how some economists think Washington could face a $1.7 billion budget shortfall next biennium. I’m not sure how to describe how frustrating that is to hear. We spent an entire Special Session"negotiating” a budget that left a budget reserve of approximately $340 million ... an amount that pays for less than 8 days of operation ... and now we could face another $1.7 billion deficit? At some point the Legislator’s need to let go of their"pet projects” and start prioritizing where we spend YOUR money.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I received the following email this morning. Regardless of how factual it is, it's a good reminder of where we all need to be centered in our lives ...
"I would love to give the Pastor of this predominantly black church in Virginia three cheers. This guy is obviously a leader. Perhaps we should each decide who our real leader is... It is amazing to see that very little has changed in 4,000 years.
Good morning, brothers and sisters; it's always a delight to see the pews crowded on Sunday morning, and so eager to get into God's Word. Turn with me in your Bibles, if you will, to the 47th chapter of Genesis. We'll begin our reading at verse 13, and go through verse 27. Brother Ray, would you stand and read that great passage for us? ... (reading) ... Thank you for that fine reading, Brother Ray. So we see that economic hard times fell upon Egypt, and the people turned to the government of Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until their money ran out, and they were hungry again.
So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock - their cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkey - to barter for grain, and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year. But the famine wasn't over, was it? So the next year, the people came before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and their own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh." So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real estate to Pharaoh's government, and then sold themselves into slavery to him, in return for grain.
What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters? That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in hard times only leads to slavery? Yes... That the only reason government wants to be our provider is to also become our master? Yes. But look how that passage ends, brothers and sisters! Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt , in the land of Goshen . And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly." God provided for His people, just as He always has! They didn't end up giving all their possessions to government, no, it says they gained possessions! But I also tell you a great truth today, and an ominous one.
We see the same thing happening today - the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand years ago - as slaves to the government, and as slaves to our leaders.
What Mr. Obama's government is doing now is no different from what Pharaoh's government did then, and it will end the same. And a lot of people like to call Mr. Obama a "Messiah," don't they? Is he a Messiah? A savior? Didn't the Egyptians say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves, "You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh"? Well, I tell you this - I know the Messiah; the Messiah is a friend of mine; and Mr. OBAMA IS NO MESSIAH! No, brothers and sisters, if Mr. Obama is a character from the Bible, then he is Pharaoh. Bow with me in prayer, if you will...
Lord, You alone are worthy to be served, and we rely on You, and You alone. We confess that the government is not our deliverer, and never rightly will be. We read in the eighth chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the people of what a ruler would do, where it says "And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day..."
And Lord, we acknowledge that day has come. We cry out to you because of the ruler that we have chosen for ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for revival, and we pray for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us hearts to seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people from the atrocities of Pharaoh's government."

Now that I’m back from Olympia and getting into the groove of regular life, I decided it was time to send out a post. Here goes ...
Molly called me this morning and said she just bought unleaded fuel for $4.27 a gallon. Folks, this is not by accident, it is designed specifically to make people more dependent on government. Look at it this way ... if fuel is expensive, people begin to look for cheaper alternatives and public transit is one of those alternatives. Who runs public transit ... government. The Growth Management Act is specifically designed to MAKE people live in cities, where government has greater control over their lives. Ever heard of Agenda 21 or Smart Growth? Washington’s version is the Growth Management Act and its implementation deprives people of life and property each and every day around the state. Every year in Olympia, we see bills specifically designed to"encourage” people to use transit. There are even bills to require transit be designed into private development, yet the majority in Olympia will fight to ensure regulatory schemes are in place to discourage any development ever occur. Their solution ... TAX. Tax the people, tax businesses, tax fuel, tax food, tax, tax tax.
People wake up. We still have time to put this state and nation on the right path. Start asking questions and make people accountable for their responses. No longer accept status quo, demand reform, demand a future for our children. If not now WHEN and if not us WHO!

Happy Friday the 13th everyone. I'm home and close to catching up on my sleep. Twenty-two and a half hours on the House Floor were a grind, but I'm happy to be home. We're headed over to Kirkland tonight for Tiffany's second to last a volleyball tournament of 2012. I'm looking forward to watching her play and spending some quality time with her and Molly.
I'm going to start trying to get caught up next week ... harrowing pastures, irrigating, fence building, yard work, etc. Hopefully the weather will be good.

2012 Second Special Legislative Session Day 1 Update
It's now 7:15 AM here in Olympia and we've been on the House Floor for over 22 straight hours. We just voted on the final two bills and now I get to head home. It was a long night.
