June 29th - 2013 Second Special Session

Friday morning and we’re on the House Floor for what hopes to be the last day in 2013. After caucusing for 90 minutes, we began voting on bills.

Second Substitute Senate Bill 5367 passed 80 to 2 with 15 excused.
Senate Bill 5644 passed 77 to 5 with 15 excused.
Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5036 passed 79 to 4 with 14 excused.
Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5035 (Capital Budget) passed 79 to 4 with 14 excused.

After running the Capital Budget, the Legislature reached Sine Die … let’s hope it’s for real this time. I’m looking forward to being home and thank everyone for their prayers and support over the last 6 months.

2012 Regular Legislative Session Day 60 Sine Die

It’s Sine Die, the last day of the 2012 Regular Session. There’s still a slim chance of leaving this place on time and without a Special Session. A very slim chance. The Democrat Majority added 19 bills to the"Green Sheet” or Floor Calendar for today. I don’t know if they think they’ll run all of them, but there’s a chance they will try and roll right over us.

I’m looking forward to getting back to"God’s Country” sometime very soon. I’ve got a lot of things to do and work through when I get home, but at least I’ll be in a good place to do that.

So far I haven’t received an update on my Aunt, so please keep her in your prayers today.

2011 First Special Legislative Session

Day 30 - The end is near ... in theory anyway! We're evenly split in the Caucus as to whether or not we'll get out of here today. My bet is we're here until Friday, but others believe we'll get put of here sometime late tonight or tomorrow morning. Guess we'll have to wait and see. We worked until midnight last night and are already back on the House Floor this morning. It's going to be a long day!

2011 Legislative Session

Days 97 through 99 - Back in Olympia today after spending the weekend home seeing the family and working cattle. The Hinder concert on Friday was a lot of fun. I had a great time with great friends. Headed home Saturday and worked cattle all afternoon, while Molly went to Granger to watch the nieces and nephews. Worked cattle again on Sunday and took the beef cattle to a pasture in Selah. Got to spend the evening with Molly and Tiffany and then drove back to Olympia this morning.

We had a Labor and Workforce Development Committee meeting at noon and are now sitting on the House Floor waiting for the Democrat Majority to decide what they want to do for the rest of the day. As of this morning, it sounds like we'll have Sine Die on Friday around noon, followed by Special Session starting on Monday. Of course all of that is subject to change. Fun times had by all.
