2012 Regular Legislative Session Day 32

It’s been a fairly busy morning here in Olympia. We voted on several bills first thing this and then went to Caucus to discuss the 5 pages of bills the Democrat Majority want to run over the next several days. It sounds like the majority party wants to run into the late evening, but hasn’t given us any rational reasoning behind it. More games I suppose.

We’re getting ready to break for lunch and then back on the House Floor to debate more bills.

It’s amazing how often I’m reminded what 10 years of one party control has created in Washington State.

2012 Regular Legislative Session Day 30 Continued

The Floor Debate on the Gay Marriage bill has officially begun. Here come our amendments ...

Amendment 1 to protect businesses from being sued for discrimination fails 45-53.

Amendment 2 to protect free speech fails 45-53.

Amendment 3 to allow couples the freedom to say husband and wife fails 45-53.

Amendment 4 to require 30 days residency before getting a marriage license fails 42-56.

Amendment 5 to bring take gay marriage to a vote of the people fails 47-51.

Amendment 6 to correct technical flaws and inconsistencies in the bill fails 42-56.

Amendment 7 to correct technical inconsistencies and deficiencies in the bill fails 42-56.

We’re now debating final passage of the bill. Our members are doing a great in framing the constitutional issues, flaws and inconsistencies with the bill. I am so proud of all our members today.
